- mom: i have a question how come batman and superman and spider-man weren't in the avengers?
- me: batman and superman are DC so that is a different comic universe. spider-man is marvel, but back before marvel had its own film studio, it leased the film rights to sony and they don't want to give it back to marvel because it's a goldmine. which is why they are doing a new spider-man movie since they have to make a movie every few years to keep the rights.
- mom: oh! yeah i saw the spider-man trailer in front of the avengers. the new guy looks so scrawny like how is he supposed to be a superhero? i mean look at captain america and thor their shoulders and waist proportions are like PERFECT TRIANGLES. it's beautiful.
- me: well peter parker is meant to be an average build.
- mom: yeah but captain america is like a traditional superhero, like that's how they are supposed to look! he's so handsome. i don't know what they are trying to sell with the new spider-man but if i wanted to watch a skinny white boy run around i'd just visit you.
